DIY or Hire a Contractor!

You know now what you want and a rough idea of what its going to cost. Now the hard part. Who's going to be responsible for, and actually do the work? Finding a contractor isnt as easy as you might thinking. A number of home improvement service sites host capabilities to help Homeowner's find a qualified Contractor. You can request a quote from me directly on my website. http://www.glennstover.com

When considering a contractor service

  1. Make certain participating Contractors come for a visit to look at your site. Over the phone proposals should raise a red flag

  2. Let the Contractors who want to offer a quote know that you have a vision of what you want, describe it to them, and you've done your cost calculating homework so tell them your budget based on that cost. Simple as that. This puts the decision on their side and you can choose to be in control "Do you want my project?" type of buyer! They'll want your project, make sure its on your terms!

  3. Know how your money is being allocated to the project. Remember the value of Unit method pricing, require it. Ask if they mark up materials or charge for material pick up and delivery. Important hidden costs like travel time, equipment rental etc. I don't mark up materials in fact, as veteran, I get discounts at most suppliers and I pass the savings to you. You pay what I pay, that simple. I don't have any hidden costs. Our quotes are so detailed that all costs are identified in the total project price including sales tax as that apply to Materials

Don't wait till March to get the quotation process started. Contractors will have a full spring schedule by mid February, get the planning started as soon as possible so that you can get on the spring startup list!
